The crew for tonight’s game in Los Angeles will be Monty McCutchen, Ron Garretson, and Tom Washington. I’m not going to go into any detail about whether these refs are good or bad but how they ref the game. So far in these playoffs the home team has an 80% winning percentage when Monty McCutchen is reffing, by far the highest in the league.
This doesn’t bode well for the Denver Nuggets coming into the Staples Center looking to take a 3-2 lead in the series. Despite the high winning percentage, his crew keeps the fouls evenly distributed for both teams. Monty and Co. average about 45 fouls called a game which would be a welcome addition from the way the past few games have been reffed (55, 55, and 56 fouls called in the past 3 games).
Maybe we’ll actually be able to see a team get into a rhythm without a foul being called every other time down the court.
