Draft day trade sends Lawson to the Rocky Mountains

AUTHOR: Brian | IN: Analysis, draft | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Buried under a flurry of much bigger trades on the day, (Shaq going to the Cavs, Vince going to the Magic, Jefferson going to the Spurs, #5 overall going to the T-Wolves, and a ton of others dealing with draft prospects) the Nuggets made a very underrated move in picking up Ty Lawson from the Minnesota T-Wolves for a future 1st round pick. People thought the Wolves were crazy picking their 3rd PG in a row after Rubio and Flynn went 5 and 6, until it was found out that Lawson was shipped out.
Lawson is a perfect match for the [...]

Mining The Web

Off-season reports:
George Karl
“History – More famously (or perhaps infamously), Karl has presided over some historic implosions when the expectations are highest. His 63-win 1993-94 Sonics became the first one-seed in NBA history to lose to an 8th seed, in spite of having won 21 more games than their opponent, the Denver Nuggets. And his Sonics followed up that dismal performance with another clunker in 1995 when his 57-win Sonics lost in four games to the 48-win Los Angeles Lakers. After impressively guiding his Milwaukee Bucks to the 2001 Eastern Conference Finals, Karl’s 2001-02 Bucks lost 23 of their [...]

NBA Mock Draft

AUTHOR: Brian | IN: Analysis, Random NBA | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

1.)  This one is a no-brainer.  Even the Clippers can’t mess this pick up
2.) Thabeet is a work in progress, but his size and athleticism more than make up for it.  Rubio’s situation is starting to scare teams away making Thabeet the choice here.
3.) OKC is filled with young talent.  It looks like they have their future PG in Westbrook, who caught fire in the 2nd half of the season, and can use this pick on a very athletic and pure scorer in James Harden from ASU.
4.) The Kings will be thrilled that Rubio falls this far and will quickly [...]

Who to take in the draft?

AUTHOR: Brian | IN: Analysis, Nuggets News | COMMENTS: None Yet

Since drafting Carmelo Anthony in 2003, the draft has been a traveshamockery for Nuggets fans. In 2007 and 2008, the Nuggets didn’t even have a pick and in 2006 and 2004, their only pick was traded for a future draft choice. The only player that has really come out of their drafts in the past 5 years has been Julius Hodge from NC State, and we all know how that has worked out. When Wark and Co. actually do make selections, they aren’t all that bad. They selected future all-star and PG for the NBA Finals [...]

What now for the Nuggets

AUTHOR: Brian | IN: Nuggets News | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

With the season coming to an unspectacular end against the hated Lakers, it’s already time to start thinking about next year.  The first step in this process is to figure out who is going to be back next year from the current roster.  Most of the players are under contract for next year as well, but tough decisions will have to be made on some vital role players.
Chris Andersen – After a 2 year drug suspension, he was given a second chance in Denver, and made the most of it.  He signed for the league minimum, just hoping for a [...]
