It’s that time of the season again, where rumors and trades are tossed around. The Mavericks broke the ice yesterday by acquiring Brendan Haywood and Caron Butler, and Monday some major talks ocurred:
Marcus Camby to the Blazers for Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake. Not sure if this deal is final or not, but rumor is it is. But I for one am not a fan of Camby and it goes back to his days in Denver. He didn’t rotate on defense and he didn’t venture from the paint, not to mention he has the ugliest jumper in the league. However, for some strange reason I like Camby on the Blazers. They have better one on one defenders than Denver does and he would be a nice interior defender that would definitely help the Blazers. Not to mention they are only giving up Blake and Outlaw. And on the other side of the spectrum, Outlaw and Blake will have little effect on the Clippers.
Amar’e to Cleveland, while I am pretty sure this trade is off. But if I’m the Cavs I wouldn’t do this trade. For some strange reason I am not a fan of Amar’e, maybe it is his insane turnover ratio or that he seems to be the same player he was since his rookie year. And not to mention his statistics are inflated due to him playing with Steve Nash and the Suns. But at the same time, when you are on a 13-game winning streak with a bunch of role players – why change things up. Remember people just because it makes the team better on paper, it doesn’t mean they are better on the floor. Not to mention they are also giving up young and talented JJ Hickson and Zydrunas Ilgauskas (who will probably be bought out). Now an Amar’e to Miami trade makes sense especially if Miami inserts Michael Beasley in the trade. He has been a disappointment in my eyes and you put him with Nash and he would thrive. Same could be said with teaming Amar’e with D-Wade. Wade is more productive when he has a reliable big man with him and Amar’e and Jermaine O’Neal would be huge for the Heat.
Corey Maggette to Cleveland, this is like the Camby trade. I’m not a fan of Maggette, especially on the selfish Warriors
team. One thing about Maggette is he doesn’t like to pass the ball, but damn can he draw a foul and as a player he’d be better playing along side LeBron James.. His selfishness won’t be as obvious on the Cavs roster and his athleticism would be even more obvious.
Tracy McGrady to New York – if there is a trade I want to see happen is this one. Not only will McGrady be able to play with out any pressure, the Knicks get even further under the salary cap to make a run at LeBron. Not to mention the Rockets get a solid, but overpaid role player in Jared Jeffries and a young and top-10 pick in Jordan Hill. They also may get either Al Harrington or Larry Hughes and if I’m either team I want Hughes in the deal. He isn’t happy in New York and he will give the Rockets another playmaker.
