Bring on the Offseason

As the Nuggets finished off yet another disappointing postseason, there is a number of questions that face this franchise. Do they blow up the team? Do they trade JR Smith? Do they trade Kenyon Martin’s expiring contract? Or do they keep the same team together.

No doubt the Nuggets need to get an intimidator in the middle and better and more consistent players coming off the bench. The good news for the squad is they only have four free agents and none of them are major:

Free Agents

  • Anthony Carter – Two years removed from a starting point guard, AC was knocked to third string. Where he actually thrived in a much lighter role. However, the former Hawaii star was mum on his commitment to the team and sounds like he is doubtful to return.
  • Joey Graham – Of all of the Nuggets free agents, Graham is the most likely to return. Especially after his performance in Game 6. Even if Graham returns it is hard to see where he’ll fit in, he doesn’t have the offensive skills to relive Carmelo Anthony at small forward and he is to small to have consistent minutes in the post. He would be the ideal 11th or 12th man on the team.
  • Johan Petro – Petro was solid but not spectacular this season. However, considering he is a legit 7-footer he should get a multi-year contract with some team will overpay Big Frenchy. It is not likely that Denver will be the team to overpay him.
  • Malik Allen – Allen is likely not to return, he wasn’t terrible but he wasn’t that good either. This veteran power forward played in only 51 games and had the worst season of his career. The Nuggets could easily replace this veteran power forward.

Check back tomorrow for a recap of this season.
