Forbes catching on

The Nuggets brought in four non-guaranteed free agents into the training camp, and of the bunch for UMass star Gary Forbes has become the leader of the pack.

Forbes was considered a solid player after his senior year in 2008, but not stellar any part of the game. However, the shooting guard has proven he can score and defend at the Nuggets camp and has caught the eyes of star small forward Carmelo Anthony and coach George Karl.

Forbes put together a very solid line at the preseason scrimmage Tuesday. He scored 24 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dealt out seven assists.

Even for all of the negative publicity surrounding the Nuggets, they’ve had a very solid and competitive camp. With many of the younger players, Shelden Williams, Forbes, Arron Afflalo and Ty Lawson coming in ready to take their game to the next level.

Al Harrington boasted a solid number at the scrimmage as well, scoring 34 points and grabbing five rebounds.
