Is the Nets Deal Dead?

Sunday night, the social media was buzzing about yet another MeloDrama rumor and as Chris Broussard said ‘It’s at the 10-yard line’ and close to be sealed.

Of course we all knew better, first off with the Nuggets playing four games this week – including the ever-popular game against the Miami Heat on Thursday and the New Jersey Nets playing three games a deal was very unlikely as both squads would barely have enough of a squad to play a game or two. So the earliest a deal could be reached would be Sunday or even possible Monday, none the less for the next three games it looks like Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams and Anthony Carter are still on the team.

But does it mean the deal is dead? Most likely not as Denver tries to add a fourth team (Portland) into the deal so the Nuggets could send Devin Harris, who is currently playing for the Nets, to the Blazers for former Nuggets point guard Andre Miller and Nicolas Batum. Marc Spears recently told Denver based 87.7 The Ticket that he believes the deal will be done before next week.

However, if you ask ESPN’s Chris Broussard or Chris Sheridan Anthony won’t sign to play with the Nets. Broussard wrote a story late Tuesday night that Melo hasn’t signed off a deal with the Nets. However, it doesn’t mean he won’t play for New Jersey. But Anthony had a very telling quote Monday afternoon talking about the Nets moving to Brooklyn, right after saying that the Knicks wouldn’t want him to come to New York and ruin their team.

The bottom line is the ending to the MeloDrama isn’t any time soon.
