The Drama: Starring Melo

And we all thought The Decision was ridiculous, but six months later and that has nothing on Carmelo Anthony and The Drama. The Drama has handcuffed us sports fans (not by choice) for the previous five months and in less than a week we will see some closure or some semi-closure.

But the closer NBA Trade Deadline the crazier The Drama gets, as New Jersey Nets has made a return to the MeloDrama. And supposedly Anthony will meet with Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov and Knicks owner James Dolan.

The rumored deal with the Nets would send Chauncey Billups, Melvin Ely, Shelden Williams and Anthony for Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh and four first round picks. Murphy and one of the first would go to a third team.

The MeloDrama got started this week on Wednesday when Adrian Wojnarowski wrote a pretty comical piece that Denver Nuggets coach George Karl wanted to coach the Nuggets without Anthony and that Anthony’s teammates were getting frustrated that Melo was caring more about scoring that winning. Of course this is a team that features certified chuckers JR Smith and Al Harrington.

And later Wednesday night during ESPN’s broadcast Anthony clad on a pair of glasses during an interview. Guess when you have superstar status.

Thursday morning, the New York Post said the Nuggets wanted five players for Anthony and Chauncey Billups. Of course Denver would have to add two more players to the deal for it work since they already have 14 players on the roster.

So as we have learned throughout this whole process nothing is official until Anthony and the Nuggets make a mutual agreement. This trade is still steps away from getting done, but a deal that makes more sense is a three-way deal with the Nuggets, Nets (and Blazers).
