Nuggets Steal One

On a night when the calls weren’t going the Denver Nuggets ways, the plays were.

Arron Afflalo, who was questionable to start the game, came up with another clutch jumper and hit a go-ahead 3-pointer to help the Nuggets edge the Utah Jazz 103-101.

Of course Kenyon Martin didn’t give George Karl and the Nuggets with a break in what he called was a ‘brain fart’ when the ball slipped on the inbound pass underneath the basket, but thankfully Andrei Kirilenko couldn’t convert the layup to help the Nuggets improve to 5-1 since trading Carmelo Anthony.

Afflalo and Ty Lawson carried the load for the Nuggets as Lawson led the team with 23 points and Afflalo finished with 19.

It wasn’t all fun and games for the Nuggets had their fair share of questionable calls. Lawson had his head taken off by Al Jefferson on a layup attempt that wasn’t called and Nene was called for an offensive foul when CJ Miles fell in the lane.

OLIVER JOINS ESPN: Dean Oliver was a valuable addition to the Nuggets over the recent years, and has left the Nuggets front office to join ESPN.

KARL’S EXTENSION: According to sources George Karl will sign an extension with the Denver Nuggets next week. The extension is reportedly for three years.

Karl has obviously been a big reason why the Nuggets have been successful since they traded Anthony. With Anthony no longer on the team Karl has been able to take control of the team.
