Nuggets Connection: NBA Finals

The Denver Nuggets may not be competing in the NBA Finals, once again. However, there is a few connections to the Mile High City in the championship series.

  • Tim Grgurich, Dallas – Grgurich, who spent the previous two seasons with the Nuggets, has taken similar role with the Dallas Mavericks this season. He may also leave the Mavericks this season to join the Los Angeles Lakers next season.
  • Corey Brewer, Dallas – Brewer was involved in the Carmelo Anthony trade back in February and was actually sent to the New York Knicks before being waived and joining the Mavericks.
  • Jason Kidd, Dallas – Kidd was Kenyon Martin’s teammate from 2001 to 2004 with the New Jersey Nets and the duo helped the Nets go to the Finals in 2002 and 2003.
  • Erik Spoelstra, Miami – The Heat head coach’s father Jon Spoelstra was an executive with the Nuggets during the late 1980s before resigning in 1990.
  • Juwan Howard, Miami – Howard played with the Nuggets from 2001-2003 and had a short stint with the Nuggets in the 2008-09 season. Howard actually was dealt to the Nuggets from the Mavericks for Raef Lafrentz, Nick Van Exel, Tariq Abdul-Wahad and current Nets coach Avery Johnson.
