Warriors Offering Ellis For Nene?

The Golden State Warriors are cleaning house and at the top of their list is Monta Ellis, and reports out of the Warriors camp is they are inquiring about the availability of Memphis Grizzlies’ Rudy Gay, Philadelphia’s Andre Iguodala, Chicago’s Luol Deng and Denver’s very own Nene (who has a player option).

While an Ellis trade for Nene is very unlikely, it is an intriguing idea. It would give Denver a legit No. 1 and Golden State a low-post presence.

Ellis is like a poor man’s Allen Iverson, he can score at will but his small stature makes him a mismatch every time he is on the floor. Ellis did have an All-Star season after averaging 24.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists. He also provides a consistent defensive effort. The only issue is that his team struggles to win, which makes many wonder if he can carry a team to the playoffs.

Probably the biggest reason why Ellis will not be in a Nuggets jersey next season is because he doesn’t fit George Karl’s team first mentality. Ellis also has a little J.R. Smith in him, which we all know drives Karl crazy.
