NBA cancels first two weeks

Surprise, surprise, the NBA won’t play a full season this year.

On Monday, NBA Commissioner David Stern said that the first two games of the 2011 season will be canceled since the owners and the players couldn’t decide on a new CBA.

According to J.A. Adande, David Stern said that the clashes were over the salary cap structure than economics and the sides are far apart on both.

The sides are also apart on the division of the revenue, the sides are also far apart on annual raises for players and the luxury tax for teams.

The Denver Nuggets entire preseason schedule has been canceled, and now the team’s first five games are also canceled:

  • Nov. 3: Season opener at Portland
  • Nov. 5: Home opener vs. Golden State
  • Nov. 7: At home vs. Cleveland
  • Nov. 9: At home vs. Portland
  • Nov. 11: At LA Lakers
