Nuggets Add Carroll

The Denver Nuggets made a minor move on Monday, by adding former first-round draft pick DeMarre Carroll.

Carroll is a tweener, who hasn’t been able to find a role in the NBA, after playing for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Houston Rockets.

He is an energetic defender, but isn’t big enough to play power forward and doesn’t have the offense to play small forward.. He can make life difficult for offensive players and is similar to former Nuggets forward Renaldo Balkman, but is more motivated and coachable. While he may never be as good as rookie Kenneth Faried, he brings a similar attitude.

He is perfect to throw on scoring small forwards like Carmelo Anthony or Paul Pierce, who tend to get frustrated with physical players. The best part is Carroll doesn’t get intimidated by those players

Carroll worked out for the Nuggets back in June, and is an ideal pickup for George Karl and the Nuggets – especially after they lost out on their bid for Luc Mbah a Moute.
