Giving Fantasy Basketball A Shot
A couple of the basketball bloggers for Fansided joined up to play a fantasy basketball league this year. You can see the entire draft recap over at FantasyCPR.
Lets just say this blogger’s draft was a little unconventional, and why wouldn’t it be with a name like the Gallo Bombers?
It all started with drafting Derrick Rose with the third pick over Chris Paul and Dwight Howard. Kind of a reach, but Rose was the NBA MVP and he’ll have a little more help this season. In fact, in a NBA Draft I’d probably take Rose over Paul as well. Statistically speaking he was far superior than Paul last season.
- Paul: 15.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 9.8 assists, 2.4 steals, .463 FG%, .388 3PT%, .878 FT%
- Rose: 25 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.7 assists, 1 steal, .445 FG%, .332 3PT%, .858 FT%
Other players that we picked up were LaMarcus Aldridge, Andre Igoudala, DeAndre Jordan, Andrew Bynum, Tim Duncan, Jarrett Jack, Kemba Walker, Derrick Favors and Paul George.
We were shooting for some homer picks, Ty Lawson went a pick in front of us in the fourth round and Nene went two picks ahead of us in the fifth round. Arron Afflalo and Andre Miller were the first two picks in the 12th round.
But the Gallo Bombers did get their boy Danilo Gallinari with a little bit of a reach in the sixth round.
A little out there, but so are the Denver Nuggets this season.
