The Denver Nuggets know they have their work cut out for them this offseason as they attempt to keep this young squad together and the two most prominent free agents are backup center JaVale McGee and backup point guard Andre Miller.

Hoopshype recently kicked out their rankings for this offseason’s top free agents, McGee garnered some attention after his breakout performance in the playoffs and was ranked 12th – while Miller was surprisingly ranked only 31st. Rudy Fernandez also made the list as the 64th best free agent.

Its hard to see many teams willing to spend more money on OJ Mayo (who is ranked 10th) than McGee. McGee can impact a game with defense, thanks in most part to his monster wingspan and length. Mayo, on the other hand, is still struggling to live up to his expectations as the third pick in the 2008 Draft.

McGee was also the second highest ranked center in free agency behind Roy Hibbert, above Brook Lopez, Chris Kaman and Spencer Hawes. Here is what Hoopshype said about the 7-footer

McGee is a freak of nature with those long arms and ability to jump out of the gym. He really showed he has offensive skills in the playoffs against the Lakers. He will have a long list of suitors and that should scare the Nuggets into overpaying to keep him.

Miller should be considered higher than 31st, he does have his shortcomings but is a nice veteran point guard who can still start for a team in the NBA.

Hoopshype lists Chicago, Golden State and Miami as potential teams that may be interested in Miller and said this about the veteran point guard

One of the most underrated point guards of the last decade. Extremely high basketball IQ. Doesn’t like to come off the bench.

Fernandez battled injuries for much of last year, which has impacted his stock in free agency. There are also fear for a few NBA teams that he may go back to Spain and play for Real Madrid and there is also some talks that he may join the San Antonio Spurs.
