While everyone is talking about the month that LeBron James and the Miami Heat had, Ty Lawson has been lighting it up on the court for the Denver Nuggets. During the month of February, the Nuggets went 8-4 and Lawson went over 20 points in every game but two during that stretch. Let’s take a look at his hottest games in February.

February 10th @ Boston

Lawson had 29 points on 13-of-22 shooting, making 3-of-6 three pointers. He added 6 rebounds and 9 assists.

February  12th @ Toronto

Lawson had 29 points on 12-of-20 shooting, 9 assists and only 2 turnovers.

February 22nd @ Washington

Lawson had 27 points , knocking down 11-of-12 free throws. He added 12 assists and 4 rebounds.

Unfortunately, the Nuggets lost all three of those games. Partly because of injuries in the first two and Denver just doesn’t seem to play well against Washington. But last night, Lawson was able to lead the Nuggets to victory with his best scoring performance of the month. He had 30 points on 12-of-22 shooting and added 6 assists and 2 steals.

For the month, the floor general is averaging 23.3 points on 50 percent shooting, 8.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and only 2.3 turnovers per game. He’s 4th in the league amongst point guards in points-per-game for the month and 10th in the league overall for February.

For the season Lawson is averaging 16.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game, all career highs for the third-year point guard.

His backup, Andre Miller, said that the Nuggets were missing that star player to carry them deep into the playoffs. It looks like that comment just might have sparked a fire under Lawson as he hopes to take his hot streak into March and the rest of the season.
