The Denver Nuggets have officially unveiled their summer league squad that will compete in Las Vegas July 12th through 22nd. The roster is loaded with talent and should be a top contender to become the first ever summer league champion. The Nuggets have competed in the Las Vegas summer league since its inception and no team has won more games in the league’s history.Their .615 winning percentage is third among teams who have played at least 10 games. This year 22 teams will be competing in a single-elimination tournament to crown a champion with the championship game on July 22nd. Games will be covered by NBA TV and Altitude Sports & Entertainment. The coach for the summer league will be Melvin Hunt and coach Brian Shaw will watch from the stands nearby.
Key players to look out for in Las Vegas:
Jordan Hamilton: Hamilton was last year’s leading scorer in the summer league with 19.2 points a game. He decided to come back to the summer league even though most players in his draft class will be relaxing at home. Jordan is a gym rat and always working to be better. He should get plenty of minutes with the departure of Corey Brewer and “The Mole” who does not deserve to be mentioned by name. Vegas should be a glimpse of what J-Ham will bring to the Nuggets this year.
The French sensation and 20th pick in last year’s draft will be back in Vegas. He was so good, he even got George Karl to give him minutes despite being a rookie. This year Fournier should light up Sin City and help the Nuggets win the championship. Good opportunity to see what the Nuggets new starting 2 can do.
It’s time to break out for last year’s steal of the draft. Miller has been working out with Hess and the front office is excited about his potential. Could we se a star in the making in Vegas. Ladies and gentleman the Quincy Miller era has begun. Get ready to witness Q set fire to Las Vegas.
A star at Notre Dame and the 2008 Big East Player of the Year. This kid can play but has struggled at the NBA level so far. He has spent two years in the league with the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers before spending last season with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the D-League.But this is summer league where former college stars come to shine. Expect big things from Harangody.
The Nation’s leading rebounder for the past two season’s was Sienna’s O.D. Anosike. He’s a high energy player in the mold of Faried and Hickson. Not much of an offense game but if the Nuggets needed another pure rebounder which Connelly seems to like Anosike is the man. Excited to see him play but unfortunately he probably doesn’t fit with the roster.
I will be at the summer league providing you with inside info and enjoying this team destroy the competition. If you can join me in Vegas otherwise stay tuned to NuggLove for more updates
