The Los Angles Clippers handed the Denver Nuggets their 3rd loss in a row. Well, I said that at the beginning of the week we would find out a lot about this team, and what we have found out is not what we expected. The Nuggets have shown us that they can not play with the top teams in the West, and that they are incredibly inconsistent. The loss last night was ugly, and the Nuggets are going to need to figure out what is wrong quick to prevent more losses.
We all knew that the Clippers would score a lot of points, but they put up 112 like it was nothing. Blake Griffin had a huge game as he posted 24 points and 16 rebounds. Unfortunately, he was impossible to stop and he had a field day under the basket. Jamal Crawford led all scorers with 27 and he dropped in 6 three balls. The only victory on the night for the Nuggets was shutting down Chris Paul. Paul only scored 10 points which is well under his average.
Wilson Chandler has established himself as Denver’s top scorer lately. He led the team last night with 19 points, and 6 rebounds. Ty Lawson was only able to score 13 points and it appears that he is still not himself. He has been banged up lately and a day of rest will definitely do him some good. J.J. Hickson struggled and he really hurt the team. The Nuggets are going to need to get some scoring from somewhere else as they are just not keeping up with the better teams in the West.
It is very disappointing that they Nuggets couldn’t win any games on the tough stretch. I really thought that they could come away with 2 wins, but that obviously didn’t happen. The Nuggs have today off, but will take on the Golden State Warriors tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. It is once again hard to pick them to win that game, but hopefully the Nuggets can bounce back in a big way.
