Nuggets Vs. Pelicans Preview

The Denver Nuggets take on the New Orleans Pelicans tonight. The Nuggets will look to snap a 4 game losing streak while the Pelicans are also in a funk. The Pelicans have lost 4 of their last 5, but are coming off of a win against the Sacramento Kings. I like the potential for a Nuggets win tonight on the road. However, it will be a close game, and a win will not come easily.

The Pelicans are also fading in the west. They have been losing games consistently and this is the perfect time for the Nuggets to play them. About 12 days ago when the two teams met, the Nuggets won easily 102-93. J.J. Hickson led the way on December 15th, and he will need to play well again if the Nuggets want to win. He has been missing scoring wise during the Nuggets losing streak, and it is extremely important for him to establish himself early and often.

Before the last game these teams met I talked about how important it was to shut down Ryan Anderson, but he went off anyway. The shooter dropped in 26 points to go along with 6 boards. Anderson is really hard to guard since he is effective in the paint and also behind the 3 point line. Somehow the Nuggets will have to stop him as he is the key to the Pelicans offense.

The Nuggets starters have all been in funks and they need to step up. They need to start playing better because the bench is not producing like they were at the beginning of the season. Ty Lawson, and Kenneth Faried will especially need to play better. They are the leaders of this team, and each of them have been inconsistent of late. My guess is that both players will have break out games and lead the Nuggets to victory.

In my opinion, I see the Nuggets bouncing back and getting a much needed win. They are just a better team than the Pelicans and I can’t picture them losing this one. My final score prediction is 95-90 Nuggets. Look for the Nuggets starters to lead the way, but also look for the Pelicans to put up a fight.
