Potential Andre Miller Trades

As is known by everyone now, Nuggets veteran point guard Andre Miller has been suspended two games for a sideline outburst aimed at head coach Brian Shaw. After this, the question changes from will Andre be traded to where will Andre be traded. As usual, I have some ideas.

Trade: Oklahoma City Thunder receive PG Andre Miller; Nuggets receive SG Thabo Sefolosha

A few days ago, I said if the Nuggets were to trade Miller away, the Thunder could be an ideal destination. Now that it seems inevitable Andre gets traded, Sefolosha would be a great get for the Nuggets. OKC gets a true pass-first point guard to run the show while Russell Westbrook is out and Denver takes back a great wing defender much like they had last year. Sefolosha is certainly not an Andre Iguodala replacement, but he gives them most of what A.I. did defensively last year. Remember last year? Good times, right? Even if Sefolosha doesn’t pan out, the Nuggets save over $1 million with the trade alone and could save more with Thabo’s expiring contract.

Trade: Utah Jazz receive PG Andre Miller; Nuggets receive SG Brandon Rush

This trade scenario was bandied about in the offseason after the Nate Robinson signing, and it makes sense now as much as it did then. Andre Miller wouldn’t hurt the Jazz’s tanking efforts this year and could mentor rookie PG Trey Burke. If Nuggets brass think Rush can be a legit three-and-D swingman, Brian Shaw puts him in the rotation, but if not, this trade is a classic salary dump as Rush’s contract also expires at the end of the season. It would also be nice to send Andre back home to Utah where he played his college ball.

Trade: Detroit Pistons receive PF Kenneth Faried, PG Andre Miller; Nuggets receive PF Greg Monroe, PG Chauncey Billups

Talking about sending people home, it sure would be nice to have Denver’s own Chauncey Billups retire a Nugget. Since signing Josh Smith this offseason, the Pistons’ frontcourt has been clogged and Monroe is rumored to be the odd man out if they are to make a move. This is a trade I think the Nuggets should actively pursue. Besides sending Chauncey home, Denver would finally get their hands on a legitimate low-post player on both sides of the ball with prototype size to boot. The trade would allow Josh Smith to move back to the 4 and have Faried come in as a super sub, the role I believe he is best suited for. Andre Miller could come in and lead a second unit that has struggled mightily this season, but should improve with the arrival of Andre and the Manimal. This would certainly be the biggest trade of the bunch, and in all likelihood, is just a pipe dream.

(All trades are Trade Machine approved)

If any of these trades should materialize, I don’t know, but I think the whole Nugget nation knows Andre Miller is on his way out. It’s been fun, Andre.
