Nuggets Vs. Thunder Game Preview

The red hot Denver Nuggets will host the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight. The Nuggets have really been two different teams this year, and have been incredibly inconsistent. Luckily, they come into this one on the right side of a streak as they have won 3 games in a row. The Nuggs have been scoring a ton of points lately and I fully expect that to continue. The Thunder are coming off of a loss to the Jazz which makes this a perfect time for us to play them. The Nuggets have a big opportunity here tonight to beat the best team in the West, and to also get back over .500.

The Nuggets have been a frustrating team to watch this year. When they are playing well, they are one of the best teams in the NBA. However, when they struggle, they are among some of the worst teams. The last time we played the Thunder, we lost by a score of 105-93. An issue for the Nuggs in that game was not being able to contain Kevin Durant. While that seems to be an issue for every team that faces the Thunder, it is important to everything possible to limit KD. Randy Foye struggled in this game against the Thunder, but he is coming off of a season high 23 points against the Celtics. If the entire starting line-up can be consistent tonight the Nuggets will have a chance to win.

Russel Westbrook is missing for the Thunder and this bodes well for the Nuggs. I expect Ty Lawson to go off tonight and have a huge game. A state line of 20 and 10 is not out of the question, and he could do it easily. Lawson is the leader of this Nuggets team and he will need to step up in a major game. Kenneth Faried has been playing great, and it must continue. The “mannimal” will need to post another double-double to help the Nuggets win.

I see this as a game that the Nuggets can steal at home. We clearly have the momentum as we have won 3 in a row, while the Thunder are banged up and coming off of a loss. Look for the Nuggets to take advantage of the Thunder and win this game by a score of 116-110. Ty Lawson and the starters will once again need to score consistently, and the bench must contribute. This is a huge game tonight Nuggets fans, so be sure to follow along for updates!
