The Denver Nuggets destroyed the Orlando Magic tonight by a score of 120-94. The win is the teams 5th in a row, and they are rolling teams. I’m impressed that the Nuggets didn’t overlook the Magic, and it is a great sign. This win streak has been a lot of fun as a fan because the Nuggets are scoring so many points. The Nuggs have also been secretly making moves in the West, and are now only 2 games out of the 8th spot.
The first thing to talk about tonight is the continued hot streak of Evan Fournier. Fournier came off the bench to score 18 points, which was the most on the team along. The guard was a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc, and he is playing with a ton of confidence right now. Also playing well off the bench was big Timofey Mozgov. Mozgov played 24 minutes and produced 14 points to go along with 9 boards. He is definitely making up for the injured bigs for the Nuggets, and could be a solution in the long term.
Randy Foye also stayed hot as he scored 18 points. Although he took a lot of shots, he was still able to be the man for the Nuggets. The rest of the starters were incredibly consistent as well. All the starters scored in the double digits, but the most impressive was Quincy Miller. Miller has been filling in for the injured Wilson Chandler, and he has exceeded expectations. He posted 16 points and 11 rebounds tonight. Miller has been a nice surprise for the Nuggets and once Chandler returns he will only make the bench deeper.
The Magic got their scoring from Tobias Harris and Glen Davis who combined for 42 points. Their starters also played well in the game, but just couldn’t keep up with the Nuggs. They were down big for most of the game, and it was really never close. In the Magics defense, they were without some of their top players. Nikola Vucevic was out with a concussion, and Aaron Afflalo missed the game with a right foot injury.
The Nuggets are really beginning to bring things together and it’s exciting. Everyone is playing great all around and Brian Shaw has not be happy. Maybe the issue was Andre Miller considering that they have won every game since he hasn’t been with the team. Miller should be on his way out sooner than later, but his absence clearly hasn’t affected the Nuggets. Up next for the Nuggs is the Utah Jazz Monday night.
