Nuggets Vs. Suns Preview

The Denver Nuggets will take on the Phoenix Suns tonight on the road. The Nuggets are coming off of an ugly loss to a bad Cleveland Cavaliers team, while the Suns have lost 4 of their last 5. If the trend of bouncing back is going to continue, then a win should be expected by fans. The last time the two teams met, the Nuggets lost by 4 and blew a huge lead. Hopefully, they are able to get out to a big lead, and keep it this time around.

The Nuggets really struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the Cavs. The Nuggets were also scoring, but simply couldn’t keep up. It was disappointing to see that the Nuggs couldn’t outgrow their inconsistencies, but they are now something that fans have become used to. The bench struggled big time in the last game against the Suns and I think their improved play is what is going to be the biggest difference maker tonight. Evan Fournier and Nate Robinson have been terrific of the bench and I completely expect them to assist the starters in scoring.

Ty Lawson and Wilson Chandler are going to need to keep their scoring going. Chandler is coming off of a season high 23 points and he will look to build on that performance. While he has been solid this season for the Nuggets, he has so much potential. There hasn’t been anything bad to write about Ty Lawson in the past few weeks, and he is locked in right now. He is producing double-double’s like it’s nothing, and is looking more and more like an all-star. I think that if Lawson and Chandler can score around 20 every night for the Nuggets that they could win a lot more games.

In the loss to Phoenix on December 20th, it was the Morris twins that killed the Nuggets. They combined for 39 points off the bench, and they will both be looking for similar results tonight. Also having a nice game that night was point-guard Goran Dragic. Dragic went for 17 and 6. I see Lawson limiting him and making sure that he does not have a good game against him for a second time this season.

The Nuggets usually do a good job of following up bad losses with a much needed win. They are in that situation once again tonight and it would be shocking if they can’t win. My prediction is a Nuggets win by a score of 107-99. Be sure to check in for game updates, and follow along on twitter @Nugg_Love.
