Darrell Arthur has joined Nate Robinson in officially opting in to one more year with the Denver Nuggets.  Here’s the story from the Denver Nuggets website.

Coming off the bench, Darrell Arthur has been a steady force defensively.  Some might say that is a bit of an overstatement since Arthur typically relieves players not particularly known for their defense (Kenneth Faried or JJ Hickson).  I would suggest that if Arthur had opted out, many teams would have knocked on his door to be a defensive upgrade off their bench.

Offensively, Darrell Arthur defines the term “stretch four”.  Whereas Faried or Hickson tend to score a majority of the points from within ten foot of the basket, Arthur’s “sweet spot” is pretty much anywhere just outside the top of the key.  Arthur is trying to stretch his range into three point territory.  Arthur shot 37.5% on 64 three point attempts last season.  I believe that is good enough for coach Brian Shaw to continue to give Arthur the green light.

Very happy to have Darrell Arthur back in the mix for 2014-15.
