Kenneth Faried earned a gold medal with Team USA this summer, and now he’ll be able to afford a lot of gold accessories to go along with it.

Late last night, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports broke the news that the Denver Nuggets came to terms with Faried on a five-year, $60 million contract extension.

Manimal took to Twitter to celebrate the good news, marking the post with “#NUGGET4LIFE:”

The news ends months of speculation about Faried’s future with the team. While there may have been a stretch early last season when it looked like Faried and head coach Brian Shaw weren’t on the same page, Faried’s play last year and his spectacular run with Team USA this summer put to bed any doubts about whether or not the Nuggets would ink him to a long-termm extension.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts, Nuggets fans. I know there was a pretty vocal group of fans who, at one point in time, didn’t think Faried was worth the big money. Are you happy with today’s news or do you think the organization overspent on a high-energy player who may never make the leap to superstardom? Personally, I like the move a lot. Faried is a beast on the court and a role model off the court. He’s the kind of player that can change the game even when he’s not scoring points, and he can be the face of the organization for the next 5-8 years. The bottom line is the Nuggets are a better team with Faried than without.

UPDATE: Looks like the deal may have to be reworked as a 4-year extension because of issues related to the collective bargaining agreement, lawyers, money, blah, blah, blah. Manimal’s a Nugget, and that’s what’s important here:
