Denver Post Nuggets Beat Writer Chris Dempsey reports that Starting Point Guard Ty Lawson will return to the lineup tonight against the Washington Wizards at Pepsi Center.  Lawson was arrested for suspicion of DUI early Friday morning and was held out of Friday night’s game against the Boston Celtics for what the Nuggets termed “Personal reasons”.  Lawson had a meeting with head Coach Brian Shaw Saturday before practice and also had a meeting with his teammates later in the day to explain his situation and apologize for the distraction it may have caused the team.  Coach Shaw was Philosophical when talking with Dempsey about his meeting with Lawson.

"“For me, it’s no different than your own child doing something. And the same care and concern that you have for your child. Just wanting to talk about responsibility, doing the right thing, learning from mistakes that you make and how it affects not just you but your family and your fans, organization and everybody else around.”"

Lawson did not give any specifics of his meeting with Shaw or his teammates saying that it was going to stay inside the locker room. He did make a short statement regarding fans and children who look up to him as a role model:

"“I would apologize to them too, for everything that went down,” Lawson said. “But on the specifics, I really can’t comment on it because I’m not convicted of it yet. So I can’t comment on it.”"

Lawson also stated that his first court date for the case is on February 27th. He was also appreciative of the support he received from friends, fans and teammates after the incident was reported.  He said during the day that he received wishes from friends, family, fans and teammates stating:

"“a lot of texts, everybody, friends saying they were there for me and stuff like that.”"

The Nuggets and Wizards tip off at 6:00 P.M. MST tonight.
