The Denver Nuggets still do not have a coach. The NBA draft is next month on June 25th, but the team still does not have it’s play-caller. The team has been struggling to find a new coach since the firing of Brian Shaw, but there have been rumblings that a new leader could be named soon.

According to multiple reports, it seems that the Nuggets coaching gig is down to either Mike D’Antoni, or Melvin Hunt. Hunt has been the Nuggets interim head coach since Shaw was fired, and he has been an assistant since 2010. He certainly has the familiarity with the team, but the way they have been recently, is that such a good thing?

Then that leaves Mike D’Antoni who hasn’t coached since being fired by the Lakers last season. D’Antoni certainly has the better track record, but he hansn’t had much success of late. He has a face-paced offense that could certainly benefit the Nuggets.

To me, D’Antoni is the obvious better choice, but who knows what direction the Nuggets are looking to go in. They need a fresh, new start, and D’Antoni could provide just that. They need someone with experience and a good track-record to turn around this franchise.
