There are now officially two NBA teams that do not have a head coach.  The Chicago Bulls and the Denver Nuggets both have coaching vacancies open while every other team seems to be set with who they presently have.  Chicago recently let go of their coach who took them to the Eastern Conference finals, Tom Thibodeau, and are in pursuit for Iowa State’s head coach, Fred Hoiberg.

This leaves one head coaching position left in the NBA.  The Denver Nuggets may not be a perfect fit for Thibodeau’s coaching style as they are currently constructed, but if you believe the rumors, the Nuggets will be making plenty of moves this offseason.  Thibodeau does not seem like a guy who wants to sit out a season.  The man lives basketball and was one of the top five head coaches in the league last year, so why would he take a lesser role as an assistant?

The Nuggets can offer Thibodeau the ability to shape the roster however he wants it to be shaped. This was one of the major falling out points between him and the Bulls front office.  The Nuggets have all sorts of malleable parts that Thibodeau would have a hay day with.  Will Barton could be a poor mans Jimmy Butler.  Danilo Gallinari looked absolutely great coming off the injuries that he had.  The draft could be a huge day for Denver who have plenty of good pieces in place. The Nuggets could easily rebuild behind the defense schemes that Thibodeau provides.  Seriously, how could you not want Jusuf Nurkic and Tom Thibodeau on the same team? Add someone like Draymond Green and you’d quickly have one of the toughest teams in the league.
