The Denver Nuggets still have several needs just like every other team, but can this Mile High City make a splash by signing a much needed free agent?

With the salary cap jumping tens of millions of dollars, many undeserving stars will get MAX contracts in order for teams to reel them in.

According to Brian Windhorst from ESPN:

"The league’s salary cap is now projected to explode to $94 million from this season’s $70 million, according to a memo sent to teams Friday that was obtained by ESPN. That’s up from projections of $92 million in April and $89 million last year."

Along with the explosion of the salary cap, the memorandum for teams to sign free agents has also been advanced five days. It is now just July 1-6 instead of the original July 1-11. Adrain Wojnarowski reported of this way back in March.

  • Both of these factors will come into the signing of free agents this summer. The Denver Nuggets will be looking at about 38 million dollar to throw around this offseason before rookie contracts and renewing contracts. IF the Nuggets bring back players such as Mike Miller and D.J. Augustin this could lower that number drastically.

Right now Danilo Gallinari has the highest player salary of any Nuggets, and he is projected to make 15.05 million next season.

The Denver Nuggets have the money to sign a big name free agent this summer, but is the Mile High City intriguing enough to lure one in?

From Allen Crabbe to Kevin Durant, any of these players could make an immediate impact on a roster that will be looking to transform their identity in the next several years.

The Nuggets missed out on a immediate stretch four and they could even look for a backup small forward if they decide to move Gallo to the four.
