Free agency is open in the NBA. The Denver Nuggets and the rest of the league gear up for an unprecedented rise in salary. Check out my bold predictions here.

The NBA’s free-agency period has started and the Denver Nuggets join the rest of the league gearing up for what is set to be a wild couple of weeks. The league’s salary cap is set to increase from $70 million to $94 million this offseason and teams will be looking to spend thanks to the sizable increase. As a result, players and agents are excited for this unprecedented offseason.

This year will be fascinating, as not nearly enough quality talent exists on the free-agent market to absorb all the available money. As a result, a lot of players are set to get paid a lot more money than they are actually worth this summer. Teams will have to be more selective even as conditions require they spend boatloads to reach the minimum payroll of $85 million.

Bargain basement steals like Will Barton from last season will be much harder to come by this summer, as the same caliber player is likely set to make $10 million or more per year on the open market now.

Let’s take a look at my five bold predictions for what is set to be a wacky free agency.
