Superstar Kevin Durant made a shocking decision that turned the NBA world upside-down on Monday, July 4th. But, how did this decision ruin the NBA spirit?

After nine years in Oklahoma City, it is time for the long-loved superstar Kevin Durant to hang up his blue and orange jersey. Durant, who has electrified the Thunder crowd for years, will now be in search for the most coveted thing in basketball, the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Durant took to Twitter on Monday to somewhat explain/discuss his decision.

In the article above, Kevin Durant left his heart out in front of the world, and he captured all our attention as he made the “decision”.

"The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction. But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth. With this in mind, I have decided that I am going to join the Golden State Warriors."

Kevin Durant went on to further explain his decision. Obviously, by the tone of the article, that this decision was not easy for this perennial All-Star, but it was one that he felt he had to do.

Does this move hurt the NBA and the direction that it was head? Here are my three reasons why it will hurt the NBA.
