Mike Miller and Denver agreed upon extension; he sees a bright future in the Nuggets organization and expresses his excitement on returning to the team.

Mike Miller is a well respected man around the league. The way he presents himself is a luxury by itself. Miller, who could of easily tested free agency and signed with a championship contender after having a career low in minutes (7.9 MPG), chose to stay in Denver and be a part of  a young team which is well on the horizon of championship contenders. It was reported that Denver had agreed to a 2-year contract worth over 5 million with Miller. Miller had some nice comments regarding the Nuggets young core, coaching staff, and front office.

This is what Miller said when asked about the recent draft picks.

"“[They’re] young, mature kids, which is hard to find. They’re young in age but mature in the way they play, mature in the way they act. That’s really the way you win with young teams.”"

Then there was this. And, this is just great to hear.

"“I’m excited about the culture building that’s going on,” Miller says. “Just seeing what the front office and ownership, coaching staff are doing and the young players that developed last year. I got a kick out of it and a lot of excitement out of seeing our team towards the end playing some good basketball. I wanted to be a part of that.”"

Miller is entering his 18th season; he’s a 2X NBA champion, former ROY, and former Sixth Man of the Year. Miller has shown his commitment to the nuggets, as he was greatly appreciated by the young nuggets team last year.

More from Nuggets News

Miller was a shining light for several the young men. Miller’s been in the biggest stage at the biggest moment and knows what it takes to win a championship. He is looked upon to by players, he is a coaches favorite player, and most importantly a fan favorite. He is everything that you would want to see in a veteran leader. Having a man like Mike Miller in the locker room after a tough loss is always a coaches dream.

"“I’m going to do whatever [the coaches] want,” Miller told Nuggets.com. “I’m going to do things the same way I did last year. I’m going to practice hard every day. If they ask me to play a lot of minutes, I’ll play a lot of minutes. If they ask me to play little minutes, I’m going to play little minutes. I was raised in basketball to be a good teammate and that doesn’t change when you’re playing or not playing. On the coaching side, players can help too. I’m going to do whatever I can.”"

This is a prime example of why Miller has gained the respect around the league. He’s wiling to sacrifice minutes in order to help mentor and guide this team. When you see Miller, he always has a smile on his face; he’s up-beat and extremely positive guy. Throughout the season, Malone addressed the impact that Miller has in the locker room.
