With Russell Westbrook seemingly off the market, the Nuggets must turn their attention elsewhere. Blake Griffin is a likely candidate, as well as a few other well-known players.

As news broke Thursday that Russell Westbrook would sign an extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder, many minds have wandered into ideas of others players whom the Nuggets should target via trade.

One name which kept reappearing was Blake Griffin, the sixth-year veteran power forward for the LA Clippers (and Michael Jordan’s choice for Space Jam 2).

Griffin has been the subject of many trade rumors this offseason due to his contract which expires after this upcoming season. However, the sole fact that he could become a free agent next offseason is reason enough to avoid any trade discussion in which his name is mentioned.

But what if there were a team with enough assets to trade for another all-star, an all-star who could convince Griffin to resign to a long-term deal?

Well, Denver could just be the team to do so and if the Nuggets were willing to unload some of their roster, they may even contend in the Western Conference.
