The Denver Nuggets are slowing gaining traction in the their Northwest division, but is Russell Westbrook resigning going to hurt them significantly?

The Denver Nuggets, who are inner division rivals with the Oklahoma City Thunder, may have just witnessed what they hope is only a nightmare. The return of Russell Westbrook to the Oklahoma City could be devastating for them. With a 3-year deal in place, the Denver Nuggets will have to worry about arguably the league’s best point guard coming at them.

Sean Walsh, from Mile High Sports, said this about Westbrook’s resigning:

"Oklahoma City was supposed to enter rebuild mode after the upcoming season. Unfortunately for Denver fans, that’s not going to happen. What will happen now is that every game in the Northwest is going to be competitive. There isn’t a weak team in the division for anyone to beat up on. The Thunder and Portland Trailblazers will remain strong, while the Nuggets, Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves continue to improve."

The team, that was once thought to lose all momentum in a stellar conference, will transform back into their dangerous selves. With their newest addition of Victor Oladipo, the Oklahoma City Thunder will have a dynamic back court next season.

The Denver Nuggets have had trouble defensive, therefore, when these teams meet next season, it could turn into a shoot out. The Denver Nuggets are still a couple of years out of serious playoff contention, and hopefully by then, Russell Westbrook will find his way out of the Northwest division.
