Denver Nuggets: Looking At Denver’s Slow Starts As Of Late

The Denver Nuggets has been suffering from terrible starts.

The Denver Nuggets have been starting games off very sluggish. Even before Jokic got injured, the Nuggets were having to play catch-up after the first quarter of games.

The concerning thing about this is that some of these teams have the bottom feeders of the NBA. The Phoenix Suns came out swinging in the two games that the Nuggets recently played, despite the fact that they won.

However, the slow starts have come back to bite the Nuggets lately. The Lakers game was a heart-breaker where the Nuggets lost by 4 points with the final score reading 120-116. If it weren’t for a slow start, the outcome of that game may have been different.

Against Memphis, it set the tone for the rest of the game.  As a result, the Grizzlies carried the momentum captured to a huge 119-99 in Pepsi Center. Sure, they many be able to get away with a slow start against a struggling Phoenix Suns team. But against an up an coming Milwaukee Bucks squad? Or against a championship contender in San Antonio? Forget about it.

They will crush Denver if they are allowed to determine the tempo at the beginning of the game. If the Nuggets can at least keep up with the teams going forward in the first quarter, then things should start to get better going forward.

These sluggish starts have hurt Denver drastically lately and are one of the reasons that the Nuggets are looking from the outside of the playoff picture at this very moment.

The Nuggets need to correct these slow starts before these ugly first quarters grow into ugly losses.
