The Denver Nuggets seems to be content with the squad they have right now.

The Denver Nuggets have been very silent throughout the week. While they have entertained offers for Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler, Coach Malone has made it clear that they will not mortgage their future for a high caliber type of player.

With the trade deadline quickly approaching, it is becoming apparent that Denver is in no rush to make a splash that could have a drastic impact this season. Sure, it would be nice to get someone like Paul George or Jimmy Butler, or even someone like a Jae Crowder or a Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to improve the defense, but the team is showing confidence in their core going forward.

While it is somewhat concerning to see the New Orleans Pelicans add a talent like DeMarcus Cousins pair with Anthony Davis, the Denver Nuggets seem fairly confident in their ability to hold teams like them, Portland, Sacramento, Dallas, and Minnesota off for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

While this is somewhat concerning, it should also tell you that this Denver organization is demonstrating a confidence not seen in Mile High basketball for the past couple of years.  With the direction this franchise is taking with its core of youth, it is understandable why Coach Malone and GM Tim Connelly are taking this approach.

It will be interesting to if Nikola Jokic can continue to grow and develop into the star that we are witnessing before our very eyes. If the Nuggets can get healthy and remain healthy and be consistent with a group consisting of Jokic, Harris, and Murray, then who knows what the month of April will hold for us (the start of the post season).

With the trade deadline winding down to the end, it will be time for the young Denver Nuggets to get focused again and finish the second half of the long NBA season strongly. Here’s to seeing our Nuggets hold their ground and clinch their first playoff birth in three years.

Who knows, maybe they can even push for the seventh seed in the Western Conference even, but we will see.
