Roy Hibbert is now a Denver Nugget according to reports.
The Denver Nuggets have made their move. It is not a glamorous trade for a star like many fans were hoping for, but they did do something.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nuggets will send a protected second round pick to Milwaukee for Hibbert’s services. He tweeted “Denver will send a heavily protected second-round pick to the Bucks, league sources tell @TheVertical.”
This is certainly a puzzling move considering the Nuggets already have plenty of front-court depth, particularly at the center position. Before I go more in depth, I am a big Tim Connelly fan.
I think he has done a great job turning this team around. However, he struck out this trade deadline week. This, coming off of the news that Denver tried to get Paul George, was a rather confusing move.

Denver Nuggets
With Jokic already manning the starting center spot with recently acquired Mason Plumlee in a backup role, the move to bring in, yet another center, does not really make any sense for this Nuggets squad.
This is definitely one of Connelly’s more puzzling moves ever since he took the reigns of the Nuggets when former GM Masaii Ujurii went to the Toronto Raptors. In his tenure, he has orchestrated some genius moves.
Everything from getting rid of Javale McGee’s ludicrous contract, drafting Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, trading Randy Foye, all the way to trading Nurkic for Plumlee a couple of weeks ago. However, this move of his is certainly not one to brag about.
With a now crowded front-court, there is going to be a battle for minutes between the new acquisitions of Hibbert and Plumlee. It will be the same conundrum that the Nuggets had last season when Joffrey Lauvergne was on the squad.
Who knows, maybe Connelly knows something we do not, but this trade is definitely bound to generate some debate and controversy within the Nuggets fan base.
Hopefully everything works out for the better.
