Mudiay once again didn’t see the floor.

Denver Nuggets point guard, Emmanuel Mudiay, has had a rough season to say the least. After much controversy surrounding the young point guard at the beginning of the season, he was recently demoted from the starting rotation.

Jameer Nelson is now the starter with Mudiay being relegated to the bench. At first, it seemed as if Mudiay was still going to get decent playing time.

However, Jamal Murray has taken over the backup point guard spot. Mudiay has now not seen the floor in two of the last three games and his future with the Nuggets is now cloudier than ever.

What is puzzling is if indeed Mudiay is not a part of Denver’s long term plans, is why they wouldn’t simply trade him at the trade deadline. Coach Malone admitted the decision to bench him wasn’t easy, so the Nuggets may be hoping some time with the other rotations will be the secret to developing the young point guard.

Mudiay saw a slight jump in production after the All-Star Break last year, so it will be interesting to see if the same thing happens this season. Nuggets Nation certainly hopes so considering his season has been less than sub-par to this point.

He has a positive impact estimate of 7.0 on the year and has not shot the rock well at all in the month of February shooting a below average 26.9% from the field. His best shooting month was in December where he still only shot 41.9% from the field. As if that isn’t bad enough, his box plus/minus scores have not been good at all.

Through the season, not once has Mudiay logged a box plus/minus above 0 in a month. In fact, his best month in this category so far has been January where it was only 0. Every other month so far he has had a negative box plus/minus.

With these concerning numbers, it is easy to see why the young kid has been relegated to the bench in favor of veteran, Jameer Nelson.

With another DNP, things are getting very concerning for Emmanuel Mudiay. Hopefully, he will figure out how to turn it around.
