A Report:

Historic Discovery Made in Denver Nuggets territory by Cleveland migrants.

A historical event took place tonight in the sold out Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

As the 60% of the usually 60% empty stadium filed in tonight, they had no idea they were about to find what is known by only few.

These open mouthed and sluggish individuals came to see their champion and savior, LeBron James.  Yet, what they discovered is the town whose interstates they came to pollute hosts and boasts one of the most electric and highest preforming offensives in recent sport history.

That it is not just the Broncos town anymore.

Denver’s other founding professional team is back.

And tonight they didn’t have time for mistakes.

There was a playoff spot on the line.

First Half:

In a first half that ended with the Nuggets up by 20, the Nuggets were able to pull away early in the by a hot handed, Jamal Murray, who couldn’t miss and looked absolutely elusive with his movement.

Not to be outdone by the rookie, Gary Harris equally found a hot hand with 17 in the first half and lead the team overall tonight with 21.  Gary ended a back to back three completion with his hand up a la Michael Jackson staring at the Cavs as moved back to the other end of the court.

The Nuggets ball movement was at ITS BEST tonight in the first house. A coming out party for the Cavs fans that live in Denver, coming to see LeBron and Kyrie, stayed to enjoy what they had no idea existed in their newly chosen town.

Nuggets were all over that at half; 73-56

Second Half:

As expected, LeBron and squad came together like Voltron to start the second half.  LeBron could be heard barking to his teammates to push it as Plumlee shot free throws early on.

Off they went.  The Nuggets 20 point lead caved (there is a pun there with cav or cav’d, I’m sure) to down to just 6 points which lead me to  pour myself a deeper glass of Malbec.

“Are we in for a repeat of Monday?” I think to myself, “I can’t handle back to back heart wrenchers like this in twice a week.”

Before the Nuggets and I could fall into deeper self doubt, Jokic found himself at the top of the key and called for an iso play with the great savior, LeBron James.

You could hear from Denver the silence that hushed quiet bars and dusty television sets across Serbia.  Life quieted down..we all looked to see…

After this sequence, cheers surely erupted in Serbian taverns, tears in happy eyes, as they clanked their glasses of potato vodka. (Believe that’s what they drink, right? No? Okay well never mind then.)

Even Kenneth Faried came alive with some slama jamas:

At this point in the game with 8 minutes left and 12 points up, I relax and start day dreaming to myself about how much longer it will be until the Nuggets get a segment focused on purely them on ESPN.  Maybe even get a 2 minute debate session over their phoenix like rise on PTI.  (I would even take a First Take or a FS2 segment as a back up.)

By the time I return to that glass of Malbec, I realize the Cavaliers have given up.

Tonight…could very well be chalked up as the game of the year for this Nuggets team.

To boot -The Nuggets tonight meet what Vegas predicted would be the end of season win total with 34 wins.  They have 11 games left in the month run into playoff contention.
