The season has ended for our Denver Nuggets. So it’s now time to look to the future and see what it has stored for them. There are a lot of great free agents out there this summer, but who will be the most convenient for Denver to sign?

We all know that the Nuggets desperately needs some help in the wing. Not only do they need a defensive presence, they also need someone with athleticism and capability of stopping a great scorer.

But, above all that, the Nuggets need someone to take the reins of the team when they are looking lost. There are a lot of small forwards in the league right now that call the shots in their respective teams.

Take for example: LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Jimmy Butler, Gordon Hayward, Paul George, Kevin Durant, etc.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not saying that the small forward position means leader. It’s just that these guys in particular have been able to be that voice that their teams need.

The Nuggets haven’t quite got that. And the future for them is looking cloudier every day.

They had a great season, ending up with seven more wins than last season and just one spot away from entering the playoffs. Now, Danilo Gallinari looks to opt out of his contract but wants to remain in Denver. We all know how much Gallo loves the Mile High City and how much we love him (I personally would love that he’d stay). But, is that the best decision right now?

There were some rumors that Wilson Chandler was frustrated with how the team was being handled, so we can say that Chandler is a random chip right now. We don’t know his status. And then, we have Mike Miller, who is a great leader in the locker room but too old; Juancho Hernangomez who had a pretty decent rookie year, and Will Barton who spent some time at the three spot.

So, let’s say Gallinari walks out of Denver. And Chandler, is practically on the other side being traded. What possible small forwards could Denver target in free agency?

Sidenote: No. You won’t see Andre Iguodala in here.
