Denver should be taking notes from this post season.
After the 39 year old Manu Ginobli logged a game winning block against James Harden, it is pretty clear what lesson the Denver Nuggets need to take away from this year’s post season.
That would be that defense is the key to success. I know I have harped time and time again about Denver’ terrible defense this season, but when you have a high powered offense while being ranked 29th in defensive efficiency, it is clear what needs to improve.

Denver Nuggets
Most of the teams in the playoffs, (not all, but most), have one thing in common. They value defense as much as they do their offense. If the players are watching the playoffs at home and let’s be honest, some of them are, they have to recognize that one of the keys to making the playoffs is playing solid defense on a consistent basis. Outside of Gary Harris, the Nuggets lack players who are willing to try/able to play solid lock down defense.
Look at the Spurs for example. Their team is composed of players who play good offense, but even better defense. Just look at the roster. Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green, Jonathan Simmons, and yes, even Manu Ginobli despite his age all can get the job done defensively. The Nuggets still need to bring in a defensive minded player or two this summer, but putting that aside, the current roster should have a heart to heart with themselves concerning their defensive efforts.
They know they can score with the best of them, but holding a team under 100 points? Forget about it. This team should make a concerted effort to alleviate that particular problem come next season.

A good starting point would be taking some notes from the current playoff teams like the Spurs in order to improve that aspect of play.
