Denver has the tools to move up in the draft.

The Denver Nuggets currently possess the 13th overall pick in this summer’s draft. There will be a plethora of options that Denver could go with, but they also have the assets to trade and move up in the pecking order.

Nuggets GM, Tim Connelly has somewhat hinted at possibly trading for a higher spot in the draft. Many teams could use the services of a player like a Will Barton or even a Kenneth Faried. Denver could trade up to the eight or ninth spot if they really want to get their hands on Florida State’s forward, Jonathan Isaac that badly.

Not to mention, the Nuggets could also package either Mudiay or Nelson in a deal freeing up a spot for a point guard whether it be from free agency or another draft pick. Plus, Denver may be able to get some extra assets such as cash or another young player out of a package deal as well. I could see the Nuggets conducting a trade with a team like the Timberwolves or the Kings in order to get the spot in the draft they truly covet.

For a guy like Jonathan Isaac or O.G. Anunoby, the Nuggets may have no choice but to trade up in order to land the likes of these prospects. As eluded to earlier though, the Nuggets certainly have the assets to pull off a deal like this.

The real question now is will they follow through with this possibility in order to bring in an exciting young talent dripping with a ton of potential.

It has already been hinted at by GM Tim Connelly, so I expect a power move from the organization come draft day that will make a statement to the entire NBA.
