There is one team in particular who could really benefit from Will Barton’s services.

Every Denver fan knows by now that Will Barton will test free agency come next summer. This means that the Nuggets should make a concerted effort to trade him before that time comes.

This way, Denver could at least get something for him. The one team that could really use Barton is none other than the New Orleans Pelicans.

Outside of Cousins, Davis and Holliday, the Pelicans do not have much depth on their roster at all. Landing a guy like Will would help add some depth and also give them some firepower for their second unit. In return, New Orleans could potentially give the Nuggets a draft pick to go along with either cash which create extra cap space or another role player that Denver could package in another deal.

Not to mention, Denver could use this opportunity to shore up the point guard situation by including Jameer Nelson or even Emmanuel Mudiay in the deal leaving room for an extra roster spot. They could then use that opportunity to bring in a solid free agent or a draft another exciting prospect. New Orleans would also get some much needed perimeter shooting from Barton which would assist with their rebuild phase.

While Barton would not be the saving grace for New Orleans by any means, it would certainly be an excellent start to rebuilding their core. The Pelicans and the Nuggets should really consider making a deal which would send Barton to the Pelicans in return for a draft pick.

(Note, this in NOT a verified trade rumor.)
