Chauncey Billups is one of the most beloved figures in Nuggets’ history.

Chauncey Billups was a consummate pro not just for the Nuggets, but for every team he played for in his career.

He made his mark with the Detroit Pistons, but he also gave the Nuggets some remarkable moments as well.

More from Nugg Love

Who can forget him leading the Nuggets to the conference finals in 2009 with the help of Carmelo Anthony? How about the one playoff game where he dominated Chris Paul?

I cannot be the only one who’s only problem with that infamous Carmelo Anthony trade with the Knicks was sending Mr. Big Shot along with Melo in that deal. Especially when Billups had made it clear that he wanted to retire as a Denver Nugget.

The man grew up in Colorado and even idolized the great John Elway growing up. It is still perplexing to this day why Denver felt the need to add Billups in that Knicks deal when New York was already getting plenty in return. Looking back now, Ty Lawson was not quite ready for a leadership role, but hindsight is 20/20.

What is important is that Billups gave the Nuggets some great moments. He will be remembered not just as a Nuggets legend, but a Colorado legend.

While he did not end his career with the Nuggets, true Denver fans will always have a special place in their heart for the great Chauncey Billups A.K.A., Mr. Big Shot.
