In order to avoid an empty off season, the Nuggets should try to conduct a sign and trade with Danilo Gallinari.

It is now becoming more and more apparent that Danilo Gallinari will most likely leave the Denver Nuggets. However, Denver could avoid getting nothing for him. We saw recently how the Clippers got something in return by trading Chris Paul when it was made clear he was going opt out of his contract. Obviously, the haul does not make up for losing a superstar, but it is better than nothing. Actually, when one thinks about it, the Nuggets did this years ago in of the more famous trades. The one that actually netted Gallo, the infamous Carmelo Anthony trade. Look at what happened. Denver still remained effective for the next few seasons, although, I personally believe they should have have given up Chauncey Billups. What is done is done though. Gallinari could possibly land the Nuggets some valuable assets in a sign and trade. Is he going to be enough to get the Nuggets a star? No, but he could be enough to get some future draft picks and a quality replacement. A trade to Boston for the likes of Jae Crowder and cash consideration could be a possibility, but that is just an example. There are a few different teams who could use Gallinari , but if Denver is not going to get a star this off season, they may as well be safe and trade Gallinari before they are left high and dry without anything in return.
