The Denver Nuggets may not be getting Will Barton back. However, he did have some key moments this past season.

While the Will Barton saga may be coming to an end for the Denver Nuggets, we need to look at some of the positive moments this past year. “The People’s Champ,” had some key improvements this past season.

He improved his block percentage to 1.6% and also increased his assist percentage to 18.5%. Not to mention, Barton slightly improved his defensive rating to 112 and upped his effective field goal percentage to 52.8%.

He still does hoist up poor percentage shots and doesn’t use good shot selection all the time, but he was also crucial in a few key wins this past season. Will Barton showcased his versatility as well.

Barton normally comes off the bench, but with the slew of injuries Denver had this season, he got plenty of starting opportunities. Not just at his natural shooting guard spot, but he even started at the small forward spot a few times as well.

The surprising thing is, he actually did well at the wing spot. Despite being moved around a lot, Barton still found ways to be effective and not just always scoring wise.

Of course, this was a contract year for Will “The Thrill,” so he was trying out for potential new suitors as well. The Nuggets reportedly offered him a contract extension before the regular season and he denied it.

This shows he believes he thinks he is worth a new deal. He probably is, but only with the right team and correct situation. Denver already has enough financial issues to figure out and Will Barton will most likely be gone.
