The Denver Nuggets’ Malik Beasley could be a nice underdog story for the team this coming season, like half back, Phillip Lindsay has became for the Denver Broncos.

The Denver Nuggets a lot of depth coming into this season. One could even make the argument they have too much depth. As a result, young and talented players such as Malik Beasley do not get to showcase their talent often with the exception of garbage time due to the insane amount of talent on this Denver Nuggets’ roster.

However, Malik Beasley could have a break out year and make a great impact for the Nuggets’ second unit.

He has the makings of a Cinderella story which is similar to new Denver Broncos running back, Phillip Lindsay. Lindsay was an undrafted free agent who got an opportunity with the Broncos this preseason. He went from being a long shot for making the active roster to the starter for Denver who is fourth in the NFL in rushing yards through two weeks per NFL.com.

For Malik Beasley, his story has the same potential. If he can stand out among the role players this coming preseason, then he will carve out a larger role off the bench. He could even make a run for being the Nuggets’ legitimate sixth man if he becomes their biggest contributor this preseason.

This would lead into a feel good story for Beasley and Nuggets Nation just like Lindsay is for Broncos Country so far this year. The key is that he has to set him self apart this preseason.

Not only will he need to score at an efficient clip, he will have to overcome his low career assist average of 0.5 per game per basketball reference. Also, he will need to have a better defensive rating than 114 and average a healthy amount of steals for his position.

The potential is there for Beasley, now he needs to do what Phillip Lindsay did and go capture it.
