The Denver Nuggets (30-18) will look to continue their spectacular play at home tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks (25-21).

The Nuggets are 20-3 on their home court this season and they’re on a six game winning streak for the second time this season with five of those coming at home. During the current winning streak, Denver is averaging just over 113 points per game over the streak, scoring over 110 in all but two games. Danilo Gallinari has been leading the charge offensively, averaging 24.4 points in the past six games, shooting an even 50 percent from the floor. Andre Iguodala has also played at an elevated level, averaging 15.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.

Denver has been playing solid basketball. Going into the game, they’re 4th in points, 2nd in rebounding, and 2nd in assists. Things look to be coming together for George Karl and his Nuggets.

For Milwaukee, it’s all about the guard play. Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings are both scoring just under 19 points and almost 6 assists a piece per game. The offense depends on them scoring those points and center Larry Sanders, who stared in the recently ill-reviewed “Movie 43″ with Nuggets forward Corey Brewer, adding his 8.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Matchup to Watch: Guards

If Denver can shut down Milwaukee’s guards, they’ll have it made. The Bucks can’t bang under the glass like Denver does. Their goal is to shoot and shoot often to keep the Nugget defenders at bay. If Ty Lawson, Gallinari and Iguodala step up, this will be an easy victory for the Nuggets.

Tipoff is set for 9:00 pm ET (7:00 MST) at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Since Dec. 13, the Nuggets have moved from ninth place in the standings to sixth. As one of the best home teams in the league, the Nuggets have used its home court advantage at the Pepsi Center to win eight of their past 10 games at home. For the month, the Nuggets have only three losses on the ledger.

Despite not having an All-Star for the second consecutive year, the Nuggets do have six players averaging double-figures in points. Coming off arguably their two biggest wins of the season, home against the Oklahoma City Thunder in overtime and a dominate win against the Houston Rockets in Houston, the Nuggets will host the Sacramento Kings aka the soon to be Seattle Supersonics.

Jan 23, 2013; Houston, TX, USA; Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson (3) brings the ball up the court during the third quarter against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center.
In the first game of their season high six-game home stand, the Nuggets will take on a Kings team that will once again be jockeying for lottery position as they are sitting at 16-28. While the Nuggets have had tremendous success against relatively tough opponents this month, they’ve struggled against the weaker competition. First their was its 101-97 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves and then the 112-108 loss to the Wizards. The Wizards has the making of a trap game. The Kings however, don’t give me that same feeling.

The Kings are shooting just 41.7 percent on the road where they are just 4-16 on the season. While their road win against Portland is nice to have on the resume, the other victories came against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Bobcats and Toronto Raptors. Hardly on the level of the Nuggets right now.

The Kings are also in the middle of a three-game losing streak where they are allowing 108.3 points per game to the opposition over that time.

January 25, 2013; Sacramento, CA, USA; Sacramento Kings forward Jason Thompson (34) reacts to a foul call in the third quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Sleep Train Arena. The Thunder defeated the Kings 105-95. Mandatory Credit: Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Look for the Nuggets, who have put up 109 points per game in its past 10 games, to continue the scoring barrage. On the season, the Nuggets are now averaging 103.2 points per game.

The big turnaround for the Nuggets has been Ty Lawson who after struggling the first part of the season, has quietly scored at least 20 points in four out of his last six games. Also, with the return of a healthy Wilson Chandler, the Nuggets bench has seen a boost in its production. Big man JaVale McGee had 19 points in the win over the Nuggets while Chandler contributed with 20 of his own.

The Nuggets will be looking to win their seventh consecutive game against the Kings and their eighth straight against Sacramento at home.
