Happy Fourth of July

It’s funny how much things change in just a year.

Barely just a year ago while we were celebrating our nation’s birthday, many Denver Nuggets fans had Carmelo Anthony on the back of their minds.

The Nuggets had just offered Anthony a $64.7 million/3 year deal on June 30 2010, however, four days have gone by and rumors had started to develop that the All-Star forward may have lost interest in playing for the Nuggets.

Nuggets fans wrote it off as rumors started by the mainstream media that was based out of New York and considered that the reason he hasn’t signed the contract was due to his wedding later on in the summer.

Reports did state that Anthony wanted the Nuggets to add a big man before he signs the extension. And god knows the Nuggets tried, they attempted to acquire Andris Biedrins before the draft and then later tried to add Al Jefferson. However, Denver missed out on both and two weeks later the Nuggets had to settle for Al Harrington. And we all know how that worked out.

At least it is a year later and we have moved on (mostly) from the MeloDrama. We still have a disgruntle (to some degree) player in Nene. But Nuggets fans shouldn’t be concerned with that, especially with how long the NBA Lockout will last.  Today is a day to enjoy the sun, fireworks and freedom.
