Rudy Fernandez Down For the Count

Injuries are starting to become a norm for the Denver Nuggets this season, as once again the Nuggets lost a key contributor. This time for the rest of the season.

Nuggets’ reserve guard Rudy Fernandez will undergo back surgery and will be out the rest of the season. Fernandez had missed 12 games due to back problems and with the addition of Chandler minutes were going to be scarce for the third-year guard.

Fernandez had been averaging 8.6 points and was shooting .44 percent from the field. He provided a lot of energy off the bench for the Nuggets as well.

Denver is also dealing with injuries to starting small forward Danilo Gallinari, who fractured his thumb on Monday, and backup point guard Andre Miller, who separated his shoulder on Monday as well. Miller still played, but only attempted two shots while grabbing six rebounds and dishing out seven assists.

While nobody wants to see players injured, these injuries did help the Nuggets problem with minutes. Wilson Chandler started the last game and Corey Brewer kept his spot in the rotation. Jordan Hamilton and Julyan Stone may also see sporadic minutes here and there.
