Denver Nuggets: Lawson, Faried Selected to USA Basketball Mini-Camp Roster

And you thought all we had was bad news?

Nuggets’ point guard Ty Lawson and forward Kenneth Faried were selected Wednesday morning to USA Basketball Men’s National Team’s mini-camp July 22-25 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Faried and Lawson are among the 27 players selected to visit the camp.

Lawson and Faried were instrumental in Denver’s franchise record 57 wins this season. Lawson, 25, emerged as one of the league’s brightest young point guards averaging career-bests 16.7 points and 6.7 assists. Faried, 23, has made a name for himself as a super-athletic, energy guy who thrives in the fast break and on the glass.

The coaching staff is headed by Duke head coach Mike Krzyzeweski, who will be running the camp. His assistant coaches are Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim, Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau and New Orleans Pelicans head coach Monty Williams.

The mini-camp will serve as a time for the coaching staff to the evaluate talent on display. The showcase will be used to determine who will be involved in the USA Men’s team’s future rosters and training camps.
